Breuddwydio (Dreaming) - Following on from a detailed pencil and ink drawing, trying to simplify Elf's multi-coloured tabby stripes into just two colours was quite a challenge and the choice of the second colour was critical, needing to create enough of a contrast with the black overprint without being too 'heavy'. I let the shapes of his tabby stripes describe the form rather than getting overly fussy with individual hairs and whiskers and chose to crop the composition much more tightly than the original drawing, so that the eye is drawn to the paw wrapped around his nose.
