Ty yn y coed (House in the woods) - A print commissioned as a birthday present where my brief was loosely a 'portrait' of the cottage where the people lived. However, the more I mulled over my ideas, the more I felt this print needed to capture not only the cottage but the life of the people who live there, which revolves largely around the livestock they keep.
A triptych was the perfect way of combining several images within one.

I couldn't get away from placing their wonderful sow centre stage and the perspective of the cottage and the focus of some of the fowl leads the eye towards her too. Each individual block acts as a chapter of the whole story. I purposely designed some elements to overflow the boundary of each block to act as a visual link between each chapter as well as conveying a sense of movement and character in the animals and birds.
