Peruvian Daffodil - Last spring I grew one of these amazing flowers. To be honest, I didn't think in the north Wales climate it would survive, but it grew, and grew ...and grew, ending up about 14" tall with one tantalising bud that seemed to take an age to open. It was worth the wait - I've never seen anything like it. Three intricately formed individual flowers emerged from the bud with a heady perfume that has to be smelt to be believed.
This print only shows the centre of one flower, focusing on the incredible structure of the stamens. A second print (in progress) will look at the flower in profile. |
